Question:

Install Perl Modules as non-Root User? (Locally)

Sep 28 '12 at 14:35

MMy website server does allow me to install custom Perl modules but only through their installer cPanel. it is InMotionHosting.

i have no way to run the

Makefile.PL

is there anyway for me to make this install using their installer?

Answer

First, with your Linux hosting account, I would think you should be able to log into your account via SSH using a tool such as PuTTY. This means you are not restricted to cPanel, but it certainly doesn't solve the problem of needing to be root.

I didn't know the answer to your question, so I Googled "install perl modules local user". There are quite a few good results. The first result page I chose to look at was this:

http://servers.digitaldaze.com/extensions/perl/modules.html

It probably has enough information to allow you to work through and solve the problem...

Answer

Nope i had some ultra shared account that does not allow ssh. I had to upgrade the account and should be able to install the module Thanx for your help..
