Hi,

Last night our mail server stopped and it was out of action longer then the total time allowed by 'Max Retries Per Email' value (10).

When the mail server was restarted these emails stayed in the queue (I can't remember if new emails were processed). The queue was cleared when we restarted the SMTPQ service.

If the 'Max Retries Per Email' has been reached what should happen to existing emails in the queue once the mail server comes back on line? E.g. does the retry fall back to a 4 hour cycle and eventually to a day etc, or should a new email that is successful trigger a restart of the retry cycle? Or is the only solution to restart the SMTPQ as I have done today.

Kind regards Clive
