In the FTP2 component you have a method called GetIsDirectory that tells me the file listed on the remote FTP is a directory.

But I cannot find a equivalent method in SFTP, so my question is how can I check a directory listing if the file/folder listed is a folder or file?

Call ReadDir to get an SFtpDir object. Then iterate over the files within the SFtpDir object to find the file/directory of interest (the SFtpFile object). Use the SFtpFile.IsDirectory property to determine if it's a file or directory.
